Renewables investment: building on the UK strengths at the 2016 Budget

Download

Date:

10 March, 2016

Summary

This infographic shows why and how the 2016 Budget should support renewable energy. Renewables are a UK success story: they’re an important source of private investment and jobs, have a proven track record of delivery and are persistently popular with the public.

The costs of renewable technologies have fallen significantly, and many are projected to fall below the cost of new gas plants (including carbon price) during the 2020s, if there is a supportive policy context.

We are very close to a point where renewable energy will out-compete fossil fuel power, but unclear signals from the government are holding back investment.
