Event details

While most of the transport sector is actively working towards reducing carbon emissions, aviation’s climate impacts have increased significantly since 1990 and are predicted to continue growing for at least another decade.

If airlines switched to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and specifically power-to-liquid (PtL) fuels, the industry’s CO2 emissions would fall significantly, cutting the sector’s contribution to climate change in the short to medium term, whilst battery powered and hydrogen aircraft are developed for widespread commercial use.

But what does the UK government and industry need to do to support the move to fuel like PtL? How can the UK become a world leader in production? How quickly can the industry move on it? And who will pay?
