Together for a greener Britain
The next ten years will be make or break for the UK’s climate and nature commitments.
Together for a greener Britain is the collective vision of 11 national environmental organisations, co-ordinated by Green Alliance, for a country that is cleaner, fairer and more resilient.
It sets the following four key pillars that we believe must sit at the heart of government’s long term thinking:
- Nature is treated as national infrastructure
- Affordable energy is the foundation of prosperity
- Communities are prepared for a changing climate
- More of what we use is made domestically
Together, these measures would deliver lasting benefits for people’s health, jobs and living costs, as well as for the environment.
As the government develops its own ten year plans, this is a crucial moment. Our proposals offer a blueprint, backed by a broad coalition, showing how environmental action can underpin economic renewal and public wellbeing.
We’re calling on UK ministers to adopt this vision and make the environment central to the country’s future.
This is the vision of the National Trust, the Woodland Trust, Uplift, Hope for the Future, Wildlife and Countryside Link, WWF UK, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Climate Outreach, The Climate Coalition and Green Alliance.
