Summary
Britain must rebuild its industrial base. This briefing makes the case for this to be green reindustrialisation to create jobs and long term resilience for communities. Cutting environmental standards is a false efficiency, leaving industries less competitive and prepared for future markets, as well as worsening air and water pollution, which has knock on impacts on health and NHS costs. We argue that Britain needs to compete instead on innovation and efficiency, and create a new vision for manufacturing. We set out three priorities for government for a green industrial future.
