Summary

Our response to the government’s ‘Review of net zero’, which is being conducted by Chris Skidmore MP, explores how, with careful design of cost effective policies, the UK’s net zero carbon goal for the economy can deliver long term, sustained economic growth.

We demonstrate the opportunities of moving to an economy powered by renewable energy, with energy efficient housing, clean transport, a resource efficient circular economy and nature-positive land management. These include:

  • high quality green jobs across the country, with better worker productivity and wellbeing
  • becoming more internationally competitive, attracting new private investment and new export opportunities
  • strengthening the energy and national security
  • improving air quality and enhancing the natural environment.
