Prioritising hydrogen use for UK transport

Date:

Summary

This briefing outlines that:

  • Hydrogen is of limited supply and uses considerable energy and infrastructure to produce, therefore its use should be focused where direct electrification is not a viable option, such as in aviation and virgin steel production.
  • As the least emitting type of hydrogen, green hydrogen production should be rapidly scaled up and prioritised over the use of other types.
