Objectives

Green Alliance’s outreach team drives action to expand access to the environmental and think tank sectors, reaching and empowering people from underrepresented backgrounds. We actively build new pathways into the sector, champion diverse talent and make Green Alliance’s work visible and accessible to a wider audience. In doing so, we help Green Alliance live its values of collaboration, optimism and inclusivity.

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Delivering interactive workshops and talks in schools, colleges and universities to broaden awareness of environmental/green careers and policy work.
  • Expanding partnerships with grassroots organisations, community groups and career networks that engage underrepresented groups, like Creative Access.
  • Proactively promoting opportunities such as our new Positive Action Trainee Scheme to wider and more diverse audiences through targeted outreach.

Getting started

To aid you on your journey to a green job, we’ve compiled a resource pack, containing guidance from across the sector on the types of roles available, the skills needed, what environmental policy entails and how to find the right role for you.

What is a green job?

As the urgency for environmental action grows, the need for passionate adults in this sector has never been greater. But making a start and understanding the opportunities available can be daunting. In our recent webinar, environmental experts explored the topic and discussed how you can access a green career.

Broadening awareness

Green Alliance outreach

We are interested in using our working group to expand awareness of the environmental sector and working in a think tank. In the past, we have delivered policy workshops to London secondary schools and have spoken at university careers evenings, prioritising schools and universities with the most diverse student bodies.
