Overview

At the Spending Review on 11th June, the government will set out detailed spending plans for individual departments for the next three years. With the public finances extremely tight, the Chancellor faces some tough choices, and non-protected areas of government spending are bracing themselves for steep cuts in their budgets.

Where will the cuts fall, and will the government still be able to deliver its pledges on clean power, public transport, better home insulation and support for sustainable farming? How will this impact the drive for net zero and a fairer, greener economy? And will the Spending Review help or hinder the government in fending off the electoral threat from Reform?

At this webinar we heard instant reactions from Green Alliance experts in the aftermath of the first multi-year spending review from a Labour government since the 2010s.

The panel discussion was followed by an audience Q&A.
