Households set to slash bills with clean tech through the Warm Homes Plan
Date:
The government has today launched its long awaited £15 billion Warm Homes Plan.
Green Alliance’s head of climate policy, Nick Davies said:
“Everyone has a chance to lower their bills with clean technologies like solar panels under the government’s Warm Homes Plan. People’s energy costs are still around £500 a year higher thanks to the soaring cost of gas, and this is the largest public investment ever made to bring them down for good.
“Raising minimum energy efficiency standards will improve the lives of millions of renters. Families can save around £400 a year through better insulated homes – it’s right that landlords are being required to invest in this.
“Clean, efficient electric heating needs to be the default choice. Around three in four homes are heated by gas boilers in the UK, but these will need to be replaced at the end of their life. The government are acting to reduce the up front cost of heat pumps, so families can benefit from long term savings.”
