The 2021 UK National Food Strategy Review took a systems wide approach to analysing problems within the food system. To learn from the formulation of the National Food Strategy we interviewed the central team behind it. Analysing the important factors in the strategy’s successes as well as areas where it could have gone better.

This uncovered several lessons in conducting an independent review, including: the importance of fostering a unique team culture that encourages policy expertise and determination, balancing active solution testing with diagnosis and the power of data-drive storytelling. Alongside other valuable insights into the governance and stakeholder management behind the National Food Strategy.
