Event details
In this event we discussed the impact of climate change in the past and lessons for our time.
The Paris Agreement aims to keep the global temperature rise since pre-industrial times to well below two degrees. But what do seemingly small temperature changes really mean for the world?
We heard from authors Professor Geoffrey Parker (Global crisis: war, climate change and catastrophe in the seventeenth century) and Professor Kyle Harper (The fate of Rome: climate, disease and the end of an empire). They provided insights into past impacts on human society, and what they tell us about our current response to the climate crisis.
