Summary

The UK government cannot achieve our transport emissions targets with the move to electric vehicles alone. To make sure climate targets are met, efforts must also be made to cut the number of car journeys.

As well as ensuring that the UK cuts emissions fast enough, traffic reduction measures would improve air quality and reduce congestion. They would improve the wellbeing of communities and save the economy billions of pounds.

This report is part of the Decarbonising Transport project.
