Annual review 2017-18

12 November, 2018

Our 2017-18 annual review charts a year of intense activity, with a number of considerable successes. Among the highlights:

  • Our work with the Greener UK coalition helped move the environment from an ignored issue following the EU referendum to the centre of the Brexit debate.
  • We influenced the government’s ambition to pursue clean growth, with our line that growth must be low carbon and resource efficient emerging as a central theme of the new industrial strategy.
  • Recent government policy on plastic pollution and electric vehicles follows, at least in part, our recommendations.

The current context for our work on environmental politics and policy is certainly challenging but we remain, as ever, positive and energetic. Despite the uncertainties, this period of change is offering unprecedented new opportunities to transform the way we protect and enhance our environment in the future.
