Phasing out new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 was an ambitious move towards decarbonising the UK’s transport sector, and it will help to put the country’s businesses in poll position in global low carbon markets.
However, transport is still the highest carbon sector in the UK and much more needs to be done to bring emissions down. We will be discussing how the UK can build on its progress to date and make sure transport plays its full part in reaching the net zero by 2050 goal and helping to build back better from the pandemic.
Beginning with a keynote speech by Rachel Maclean MP, the minister responsible for ensuring rapid emission cuts and supporting action across the country. She will then be joined by a panel of experts to discuss how to promote sustainable transport and low carbon investment as part of the government’s plans for a green economic recovery.
